This is a longtime family favorite from the time they started when Jun left the old Papillon's in downtown Charleston. We're excited for the new location to open and for the return of their she crab soup! Anything you try will be amazing. Soft shell crab. Noodles. Sundried tomato rice timbale. And especially the sake sangria with seasonal fruit! Much love to Miss Myles and their family always!
A visit to Myles and Jun is always a special occasion. The staff is wonderful, and it's such a breath of fresh air to see how the owner treats them. The owner herself takes time to speak with everyone in the restaurant, and if you're there celebrating a birthday or anniversary, she'll sing you a song. Truly an experience you won't get anywhere else. The food is on a level you don't see often. Every dish on the menu is delightful. And you HAVE to try the sangria. It's a must!
Great place to eat. Owner, staff, and atmosphere are great! I got the Kalbi(short rib) with the butter rice. It was so good! We've eaten here a few times and never disappointed. Just be mindful it does get busy. Plan accordingly. A must eat in Summerville!
How could anybody give this place anything less than 5 stars. Quick and friendly service, amazing food, chill vibes all around and an extremely attentive and entertaining owner. When I saw 4.8+ stars on Yelp and Google I knew I had to give it a chance! I am a sucker for all kinds of Asian food as well, so it was a must. I wish I had been with some others so we could have shared some yakitori, it's so hard to find good legit stuff like that outside of a major city. There were a few apps I would have loved to have tried too. I saw a placard on the wall saying that they were known for their noodles, so I couldn't resist. I got the Yaki-Udon with beef. The boss lady gave me a little sample of sake sangria that was pretty tasty, but not what I was looking for, I just got a beer. They gave me a little bit of soup to wet my appetite while I waited. The servers were nice but seemed really young. My food came out relatively promptly and it looked amazing. The noodles were absolutely perfect. The beef was nice and tender. All the veggies were cooked to perfection. The only thing that made this a 9.9 out of 10 instead of perfect was it was a hair to salty for my personal taste. I like salty, I like depth and umami, but this was just a little more than I needed. No complaints, just a little constructive criticism. I'll be back! Anytime I am anywhere near here and I have somebody with me I'll bring them. I don't want an entree; I want all the apps and yakitori. I also want that green tea ice cream that the people next to me got!
This place has been on my list of places to go for a while. I finally went earlier in the week with my good friend. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with smiles and great energy. Mama Jun has a welcoming spirit and the most beautiful voice. She is so sweet, and I'll come back just to get another one of her hugs! Everything that touched my tongue was delicious! This is my new favorite spot. I have been to a lot of restaurants, but none has that 'family' feel like this place. The servers were very attentive to our needs and offered us the best service I've had in a very long time. Nothing but smiles all around! You can just tell that the people who work here are genuine in all they do. Mama Jun walked around belting out beautiful music with those amazing vocals! I will definitely be back for sure! The way that she spoke about God and how they got started was awe-inspiring! And anyone who praises my God openly is ok in my book!
This is Andrew Butler your local Charleston Realtor. I absolutely love bringing clients to Myles and Juns place. They are both still working in there and making the best of the best food with top notch service. Definitely recommend reservations because it's a smaller place and they fill up. Go there on your birthday and get a sweet little surprise! It is pricey but it's 100% worth it. They also offer gluten free items and are very knowledgeable about the whole ordeal
Myles and Jun only does reservation by Yelp, but we stopped by on a Thursday evening and got a reservation for two hours later at 7:30. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly and treated to sangria samples while we looked at the menu. It's a cute place with nice decorations and a seating area while you wait. The service is great here and everyone makes you feel welcome, though I got the sense they were a little understaffed. All of the recommendations from our "research" were ordered: A5 wagyu skewer, crispy pork belly, honey toast, yellowtail collar. Everything was delicious, hot, and fresh! Out of everything, the yellowtail collar entree with the sun dried tomato garlic butter rice stood out to me. I had never had yellowtail collar, but don't skip it if you're not afraid to pick up a piece of fish and nibble on the crispy bits. I think it's whole fried and the sauce is incredible. The rice was something special too. We also got the chicken thigh and lamb yakitori - both were tasty with the lamb packing a spicy punch. I'm not sure when we'll be back to Summerville, but the combo of the food and the hospitality has pushed M&J to the top of our list - they make you feel like family!
Great service. Phenomenal food. Really, really splurged and had the Japanese Wagyu. It is indeed to die for. Bacon wrapped quail eggs very nice. Bacon wrapped scallops even better. We will absolutely be back.
I can see why this place has 5 stars! I was in the area visiting my father and I was lured in by Yelp. Looks are definitely deceiving, as from the parking lot the storefront looks kind of worn. Once inside, it was very lively with customers and I could see waiters carrying plates of delicious food! They started us off with a complementary shot of sake, which was nice. For my meal I got lamb skewers, which was so tender and flavorful. The gyoza was crispy, and my steak and shrimp hibachi was juicy and nicely done. I enjoyed the garlic and sun dried tomato rice too - a much nicer option than plain steamed white rice! The star of the show for me was the honey toast dessert. The red bean ice cream was very light and mild, a perfect accompaniment to the toast which was lightly crisp on the outside and drizzled in decadent honey and chocolate. Super happy with my decision to eat there while spending a limited time in the area!
Don't let the storefront fool you. I'd heard so many nice things about Myles and Jun Yakitori and my visit didn't disappoint. I made reservations because I heard it can get very busy. With reservations, my guests and I still waited about 10-15 minutes, but that's also stated in the resy. We were seated and offered a sample of their highly recommended Sake Sangria and it was delicious. Of course I now needed it with my meal. Their menu selection is huge and made it hard to choose. I decided to go with their Yakitori selections in order to try a few different items. I went with the grilled sake (salmon), filet mignon, and lamb. I also ordered the asparagus beef rolls. Everything was delicious! I was a little disappointed that the owner wasn't there. I would have really liked to have met her. But I highly recommend giving them a try.
